I'm a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication and Deputy Head at the School of Communication and Arts at The University of Queensland.
My research examines digital media, with a particular focus on the participatory and algorithmic brand culture of social and mobile media platforms.
I’m the author of Pop Brands: branding, popular music and young people (2010), Media & Society: production, content and participation (2015) and Brand Machines, Sensory Media and Calculative Culture (2016).
Together with Amy Dobson and Brady Robards I co-edited the collection Digital Intimate Publics and Social Media (2018).
From 2016 to 2018 I was the co-convenor of UQ’s Bachelor of Communication.
